Etsy to Pinterest, without the manual work

Getting an Etsy listing onto Pinterest properly means resizing the photo to portrait, writing a title and description Pinterest can index, picking hashtags, choosing a board and remembering to do it again next week. Here is what that work involves — and how to stop doing it by hand.

Why Etsy sellers end up on Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual search engine, not a social network. People use it to plan purchases — wedding tables, nursery shelves, Christmas gifts — and they search with intent to buy. That makes it unusually well matched to Etsy, where the products are visual, discretionary and bought on impulse or for an occasion.

The other reason is longevity. A pin does not decay the way a social post does. Something published today can still be surfacing traffic eighteen months from now, which means the work compounds instead of evaporating. That is what makes it worth doing properly — and what makes giving up after two weeks so costly.

What a good Etsy pin actually requires

Most sellers underestimate this, which is why the habit rarely sticks. Every listing you pin needs:

  • A portrait image at 1000×1500. Your Etsy photos are square or landscape, so this is a crop or a re-shoot, not a copy-paste.
  • A title written for Pinterest search, which is not the same as your Etsy title — Etsy titles are keyword-stuffed for a different algorithm.
  • A description that reads naturally while carrying the terms buyers search for.
  • Hashtags that are specific enough to rank and broad enough to have volume.
  • A board that matches the product, because board context affects how Pinterest classifies the pin.
  • Consistency — a handful of pins does nothing; the results come from pinning regularly for months.

Multiply that by twenty listings and repeat it monthly. This is the reason most Etsy shops have a neglected Pinterest account rather than no Pinterest account: the intent was there, the hours were not.

Doing it from the listing URL instead

Everything in that list already exists inside your Etsy listing. The photos, the title, the tags, the category, the price and the description are all sitting there in structured form. A tool that starts from the listing has enough to build the whole pin; a tool that starts from an upload box does not, which is why generic schedulers still leave you doing the work.

That is the entire premise of PinFlow:

  • Paste the listing URL, or capture it with the Chrome extension while you are on the page.
  • PinFlow reads the listing and generates a portrait pin image styled to the aesthetic you describe once, in your shop profile.
  • It writes the Pinterest title, description and hashtags from the listing's own content and category.
  • It suggests a board, and you publish immediately or schedule it.
  • Nothing publishes until you have looked at it and approved it.

Where this does not help

Worth being straight about the limits. PinFlow will not fix a listing whose photos are poor — generated imagery is styled from your product photo, so it inherits its quality. It does not do Etsy SEO, keyword research for your listings, or anything outside Pinterest. And it does not post to Instagram, TikTok or Facebook; if you want one tool for every network, this is the wrong one.

It also will not make pinning work overnight. Pinterest rewards consistency over months, and no tool short-circuits that. What it removes is the reason people stop.

Getting started

The free plan includes ten pins with no card and no expiry, which is enough to run a real test: pin your five best listings, wait a few weeks, and look at saves and outbound clicks before deciding anything. If it is not working for your shop, you will know before you have paid anything.

Common questions

Can you post Etsy listings to Pinterest automatically?

Yes. PinFlow reads an Etsy listing from its URL and produces a complete pin — a 1000×1500 portrait image, a title, a description and hashtags — then publishes it to a board you choose. You review everything before it goes live, so 'automatic' means the work is done for you, not that pins post unsupervised.

What size should an Etsy pin be?

1000×1500 pixels, a 2:3 portrait ratio. Pinterest's feed is a vertical masonry grid, so square Etsy product photos are shown smaller than portrait images and take up less of a scrolling viewport. PinFlow generates at 2:3 by default rather than cropping your listing photo.

Does pinning Etsy listings actually drive sales?

Pinterest behaves more like a search engine than a social feed: people arrive with buying intent and pins keep surfacing for months, unlike posts that decay in hours. The catch is consistency — results come from pinning regularly over time, which is exactly the part most sellers abandon.

Do I need a Pinterest business account?

Yes, and it is free. A business account is what gives you the API access to publish programmatically, plus analytics on saves and outbound clicks. Converting a personal account takes about two minutes and does not affect your existing pins.

Will the pin link back to my Etsy shop?

Yes. The listing URL becomes the pin's destination link, so anyone who clicks the pin lands on that listing. That link is the entire point — a pin that does not route traffic back to the shop is decoration.
